Performs diagnostic imaging examinations on patients, ensuring the production of quality diagnostic images. Ensures accurate patient positioning during radiographic procedures; conducts image operations according to provider requests and other technical factors. Implements radiation safety guidelines and conducts proper radiation protection practices during the imaging process. Must possess the skills and knowledge to operate or learn to operate CT equipment to produce quality CT scans. Produces quality computed tomography exam images and exercises professional judgment in the performance of procedures. Delivers excellent patient care and education before, during and after diagnostic imaging procedures and initiates life support measures as necessary. Demonstrate dependability by responding on-call for emergencies on evenings and weekends. Works with all age groups. Work as a team with providers, nurses, and other ancillary staff in a variety of situations, including outpatient and emergency scenarios.
Must be registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT). If working in ND and performing medical imaging or radiation therapy procedures, must be licensed through the ND MIRT Board of Examiners. Must have completed an educational program accepted by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists. Must have a good understanding of diagnostic radiographic principles, including radiographic positioning, quality control and radiation protection. Computer skills desirable. Experience with computed/digital radiography and PACS preferred. CT, Dexa and US experience preferred, will cross-train if necessary.
