EMS Director

Southwest Healthcare Services is looking for a qualified candidate for our Director of EMS. In addition to providing Paramedic/EMT services as required, the EMS Director will assure that optimum care is given to all patients. The Director will have authority and accountability for the function, activities, orientation and training of the ambulance staff. The Director is bound by regulations established by the licensing board, state and federal bodies, and the policies and procedures of this corporation.

 

Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provide Ambulance Paramedic/EMT services as required.
  • Responsible for managing all activities contributing to the operational function of an EMS Department.
  • Maintain day to day operations in the EMS Department.
  • Supervises and manager personnel, volunteer and contract staff members in the EMS Department.
  • Maintain provider relations.
  • Responsible for customer/patient relations.
  • Develop EMS schedule.
  • Operate ambulance service according to state and federal regulations.
  • Provide training for EMS and Southwest Healthcare Services staff as may be required.
  • Develop and maintain an operating budget for the ambulance service.
  • Manage volunteers and staff.
  • Responsible for overseeing and monitoring EMS Staff proper for licensure and other documents as required by the EMS Department and SHS. Will work closely with Human Resources to maintain proper documentation on EMS Staff.
  • Maintain logs required of month end reporting process. For example, statistic and productivity analysis.
  • Participate in disaster preparedness.
  • Assist with the Cardiac/Pulmonary Rehab program as may be required.
  • Assist in ER within scope of practice
  • Assist with education and training of staff done by the EMS department.
  • Assist in the clinic as may be necessary
  • Work with DON on Trauma Coordinator responsibilities.
  • Presents information on quality issues as needed.
  • QA/QI Monitor Reports.
  • Maintains strict physician and patient confidentiality.
  • Review department policies and procedures, at least annually, and participate in making recommended changes.
  • Other duties as may be assigned.

 

Education/Licensure Required

  • Completion of National Registry Emergency Medical Technician program. 
  • ​​​​​​​Nationally Registered Emergency Medical Technician, North Dakota Emergency Medical Technician state licensure, CPR Instructor Required.
  • EMS Instructor/Director, preferred or obtained within 12 months of position
